Software updates, medical devices, devices for cancer treatment, and other medical products are now available to patients, according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
In addition to the software update for the Office of Health and Human Services (HHS) Healthcare Information and Services Administration (HISSA) Healthcare Improvement Program (HIPS) software, which was first announced in September 2017, patients can also now download and install the new Medical Outcomes Application (MSA), which will allow doctors to quickly analyze and prescribe medical information and perform medical tests on patients.
The HHS Office of Healthcare Innovation and Innovation Research (OIISIR), a division of HHS, is also updating the MSA software.
OIISI also released new software updates for other HHS programs, including the Medicare Part D program, which will be updated to make payments to Medicare Advantage patients.
The CMS has also updated the Medicare Benefits Schedule to update eligibility for Medicare Part B benefits and Medicare Advantage plans, and it is also releasing new Medicare Part C benefits and plans, which are for the benefit of all Medicare beneficiaries.
